In our biology class we went to the lab to see how enzymes worked with the ph.Is is theTask that is on our teachers blog.
5)a) The sucrase which is an enzyme catalyses so its speed up chemical reactions, then as water is needed to reactions to take place they take their water from the food and as the sucrase goes into the active site its slips and he substrate breaks down into glucose and fructose.
5)b)The investigation was carried out at 40 because its a fix variable and also because is a mammal. At higher temperature an enzyme is likely, to bump into its substrate more often than at lower temperatures.. They will also hit each other with more energy, so the reaction is more likely to take place.
Colour of exposed surface: …………Darker…………………………………
Colour of surface covered with orange juice: ……The same color……………….
8) The high Ph that is found on the orange juice makes that the active site no longer fits the substrate, so the enzyme can not longer catalyse its reaction.
The Enzymes and Ph.
Aim: the effects of ph on plants tissue.
Results: The colour of the exposed surface changed into a darker colour but the covered surface the colour stayed the same.
Conclusion: We can say that Ph doesn’t let chemical reactions take place, because the active site no longer fits the substrate.
Check the conclusion!
